Thanksgiving at the Beach

We had such a great time on our Thanksgiving at the Beach vacation! We are so grateful to MomEast and Pedo (MomEast's beloved -- "Pedo" is his own, special grandpa nickname) for providing this wonderful event for all of us as a family -- which they do each and every Thanksgiving. :-) We love you!

And, we are loving the pictures and posts from everyone as they are being added to their blogs/websites. Thank you!
Now that things have settled down a bit (just a bit...), here's another installment of the fun and frivolity had during that week. There will most likely be at least a few posts dedicated to this -- both because it was an AWESOME time and because I have lots of pictures and stories (or at least "snippets") that I want to share. So, indulge me and enjoy...or ignore me and come back later. Your choice. :-)
There have been others posted on the family blogs/sites but here's our "take" on the weird iron monstrosity that was in the water on the beach near 'our' house (where we stayed for the week):

Pedo mentioned that these holes mean that a crab has been there:

In Utah, that would mean a gopher, 'potgut' (I don't know the real name of these rodents), chipmunk, or more unpleasant rodent (rat, probably) had been there.
What we learned when we got there:

D'oh! Well, at least we discovered where we COULD go 'coinshooting' (using the metal detector) -- it was about a 35-40 minute drive to the north. We had a blast!

Some of my other favorite beach pictures:

Pelicans:

Cool, twisted tree in the "inbetween" area:

I love these little birds (the tiny ones, not the seagulls):

Can anybody tell me what causes all those little holes in the shells?

This isn't anyone I know...but I thought it was so cool what these kids were doing! There were three or four kids jumping but this was the only good picture I got of it. :-) So fun:

Scenery that just CAN'T be seen anywhere in Utah (or nearby):

Amazing!

Flying kites (again, nobody we knew...but the kites were nifty!):

The house we stayed in (if you look close, you can see the Zombie in the shadows on the right):

Me (Zombette) at 'our' house for the week (Thanks MomEast and Pedo!):

How we knew we had found the right place when we arrived:

Wii Time (Little DC, MickeySouth, and MovieDude):

Ariel and Cinderella open their musical cards from Nana and Pedo:

What excellent memories we made that week. Thanks to everyone who came for putting up with my 'camera-happy' ways and for making it such a wonderful time. We love you!

More to come! Love Y'all!

We're BAAAAaaaaack

Hi All!
We are back from our Long, Lovely Thanksgiving trip and from our short, unexpected trip as well -- as of last night.

We had the most wonderful time with my family and even the Zombie was terrifically happy that we made the trip (it's a pretty long trip -- a full day of 'just traveling' on each end). The weather was beautiful, if a little chilly, but we had only gentle breezes when we had them...and that was not all the time. I am happy to report that there was not a Nor'easter (as there was in 2006) and we never lost electricity or got "trapped" due to road closures for the duration of our stay. I'm also happy to report that nobody got "trapped" out either...and all who planned to come made it.

Here is a small sample of my favorite photos from the trip. If I gave you a 'large' sample, I'd lose my Blogger account for overuse (LOL)...well, certainly if I posted all of them. :-)

Admittedly, though, the Zombie was correct when he accused me of being a 'photo lightweight' because when compared to the length of the trip itself, I took relatively few pictures -- fewer than 700. (Yes, for me, that's 'light'. *grin*)

One more thing...Some of these pictures are blurry because I was taking them from a moving car (don't ask...I just do that) and for those that are blurry that were not taken from a car...I have no explanation. Skip them if you can't stand looking at them...I don't mind them so much. I'm weird like that.

Enjoy!

The Zombie takes in the ocean view:

Me, Zombette, at the water's edge:

The Zombie didn't believe I'd get this shot:

You should have known better, Babe, I'm the self-take QUEEN!

I should also mention that I only got one try (that was the challenge) -- and this is it! If you'll pardon a moment of self-indulgent gloating -- Yay me!

Our Adorable nieces, 'Ariel' and 'Cinderella' in their new aprons from their Nana and Pedo:
Kitchen Princesses with a pinch of cuteness! (<--- That's what the aprons say. Personally, I think it's far more than a 'pinch' in their case.)

MomEast and Little DC (my Mom and Brother):

Steef (my baby Brother) on the beach at Nag's Head (and his quirky, awesome sense of humor!):

And a few other nature and random pictures I like:

This last one, I think, is too glorious to post "small":
If you want to see any one of the pictures full-size, just click on it. If you want to save one, right click. I'll be back with more (photos and otherwise) in a little while.
Love Y'all!

I'm gonna be here:

to enjoy some good times, great food and FUN with my family!
Take care y'all and don't forget to give thanks!

Please Don't Hate Me...Sincerely 'Fro Me to You

My best friend for most of my life -- Jenny in Utah -- joined a cool online carnival a few weeks ago (maybe more?) called "Sincerely 'Fro Me To You" on the blog We Are THAT Family.

This week she (Jenny) posted dance pictures from high school. Since I was in one of them, I felt compelled to join in and return the, er..."favor".

Love yer guts, Jen! Please don't hate me!

Here are a couple of my dance pictures from high school...although I couldn't find the one I was looking for that corresponds to the comment I left at Jenny's blog...

And, here's my cute friend, Jenny, and me...with a shout-out to her fabulous 'fro' and to those glasses. LOL! Too funny...

And lastly, and homage to some great 'fros from earlier decades!

...including mine (notice the blue eye shadow?)... aargh!

...and a mullet.

Aaaaah -- the 80s!

Check out the carnival at We are THAT Family, for more great "Sincerely 'Fro Me to You" pictures that didn't make the scrapbook...or shouldn't have. :-)

Take care, y'all!
